Heroes of dance music culture, Circo Loco return to our capital city for another all star New Years Day party, leading London into the bright lights of 2012. Renowned globally for being the most heavyweight in hedonistic events, this past year Circo Loco have only served to amplify their status as one of the best club nights in the world.
Such an iconic night deserves an equally iconic space in which to see in the big twenty twelve. 2011’s party saw them take over the vast and sprawling confines of southeast London’s Ewer Street Car Park. This year sees Circo Loco heads back down stream to the riverside destination of Proud 2, housed within the world famous O2 arena. Split over 2 levels, Proud 2 boasts one of the most advanced sound systems in the world, unchanged since its former life as matter, with a new generation ‘body-kinetic’ dance-floor for a uniquely powerful clubbing experience.
Three of the members from the label and production team, Visionquest, the new generation of Detroit producers who have been defining a unique sound of their own, unleash their creative juices on New Years Day, fresh from their episode of the infamous fabric mix series. Rising star Shaun Reeves and fellow posse members, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss showcase the diverse sounds that have found them a loyal following the world over.
Matthias Tanzman has become something of a crazy circus conductor. After leading London into the shining lights of 2011 at the beginning of the year, Matthias has not let any dust settle having released mix CDs for Circo Loco DC10 and Cavo Paradiso, and celebrating ten and five years respectively for his labels Moon Harbour and Cargo Edition. The latter part of this year has been spent with fellow Circo compadre Dyed Soundorom, who is infamous for his Parisian style and sound. Together they embarked on a recent tour of Australia to wave the flag for Circo Loco across the other side of the world.
Barcelona based Italian Davide Squillace is more of a performer than an artist. As well as running his own labels, he also has a long back catalogue of productions starting in 1998 including imprints like Supernature, Sci + Tec and Loco Dice’s Desolat. Joining Davide is Clive Henry, one of the UK’s longest standing flag-wavers for underground house music having been an original member of the West London house mafia, one half of the genre-defining tech house outfit Peace Division and another key resident at the world’s most musically influential nightclub, DC10.
The indisputable first lady of Circo Loco and queen of DC10 Ibiza, Tania Vulcano will act as a showcase for what Circo Loco is all about, alongside the duo affectionately known as Bingo & Alex, System of Survival. True aficionados, the boys, between them, boast a remarkable knowledge and back catalogue of music, across styles and genres, defining their solid, smooth and thoroughly dependable sound.
