At the tender age of 21 years old, David August is one producer already displaying all the makings of an international superstar. Well under the wing of Diynamic boss Solomun, David gets set to unleash his long-awaited third EP on the label, the irresistible ‘You Got To Love Me’ EP.
Unsurprisingly, the young Hamburg native will yet again beguile his fans with three sublime tracks that take you from the catchy pop dance of ‘You Got To Love Me’ to the languid atmosphere of ‘Stepping Through Myself’. With his undeniably accessible yet sexy club appeal, August here explores a more poppy aesthetic with signature big bassline grooves intact and original vocals to keep you hooked. Deep and soulful, veering from disco beats to bluesy spaced-out electronic, ‘You Got To love Me’ is further proof of August’s distinct flair and evolving musical direction.
Title track ‘You Got To Love Me’ takes hold with a driving, vocal line that will circulate your mind for days, an oscillating bassline, lazy congas and subtle disco claps keeping you grooving all the way to the sprawling, accapella breakdown. ‘You Got To Love Me’ is a guaranteed dancefloor bomb to spawn more August addicts.
Floating on a higher plain, ‘On My Mind’ will captivate with its futuristic synth-pop bassline whilst building tension with an opening sequence of harmony leading to a massive bass drop and punching drums. Closing the package and slowing down proceedings to an indolent groove for sleazy listening, ‘Stepping through Myself’ boasts a haunting vocal-hook accompanied by low moody piano notes and sub-bass stabs, the track has a deep bluesy quality with a subtly propelled force at the heart of it to keep toes tapping and souls tripping.
At fifteen David August began gracing the decks and it wasn´t long before he gained his first local club residencies. A year later he made his first forays into production and in 2008 had his debut release. Now a full-fledged member of the Diynamic family, the gifted producer has already delivered two massive EPs (‘Instant Harmony EP’ and ‘Peace Of Conscience EP’) and several remixes for the label, his defining tracks ‘Moving Day’ and ‘Hamburg is for Lovers’ ensuring a jam-packed touring schedule throughout 2010/11. David is now studying at the University of Arts in Berlin where he is on his way to becoming a "Tonmeister". The highly anticipated debut album is set for release on Diynamic in 2012.
