MAM is a name you may have heard over the past 12 months, and if you haven’t, you will likely be hearing it more in 2012. Miguel Campbell and Matt Hughes have been behind some of the most influential underground disco tracks of the past two years, released a number one album through their Outcross Records imprint, recently signed to Wolf & Lamb’s Black label with the huge ‘Bedroom Dancer’ and receiving prolific support on BBC Radio 1. 2011 saw Miguel join Jamie Jones’s Hot Creations crew, dropping the huge Beatport number one hit, ‘Baby I Got it’ including the widely adored ‘Something Special’ – a contender for track of the year in the DJ Mag Best Of British Awards.

FINA Records, established in 2011 and steered by house scene stalwarts Simon Morrell (DDD) and Matt Long (mono_cult), has been releasing choice cuts from Mic Newman, Leif, Roberto Rodriguez and Morning Factory over it’s inaugural year. Not afraid to experiment with styles and tempos Fina embraces everything from low slung techy grooves, with a splattering of disco through to the deeper shades of house and it is with their 6^th release that they follow on the tradition of showcasing the freshest and brightest talent in electronic music with MAM’s ‘Modern Heat EP’.

Title Track ´Modern Heat´ rolls out the up-tempo bassline with claps and hats punching the track along the lines while ´Crushed Ice´ is a cool disco-house slice of funk, taking influence from our Franco friends across the channel giving the nod to the early Crydamoure Productions of yesteryear... slow, sly and groovy. ´Sunset Funk´, does exactly what it says on the tin. A euphoric disco number that makes you forget about the cold and think of those lazy summers. Coming out as a digital only release, the MAM boys add a dubbier dimension to the ‘Crushed Ice Remix’ – ever so slightly more hazy and equally as seductive.
