Stomping into 2012 with a more house heavy musical direction, Leeds duo PBR Streetgang step up to launch the next year of Hot Creations with old school inflected ‘Downstroke’ single including a sexy nocturnal remix from Swiss tech don Deetron.

A-side ‘Downstroke’ is a stroke of sleazy genius bursting with low-slung drums, solid claps, growling bass, tinkling cowbells and plenty of swinging disco funk. With a classic house vocal re-sung in an intoxicated drawl, this chunky mid-tempo groove is sure to beat the January blues and also marks the start of another heat-infused year for Hot Creations.

Already getting major love from Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, Deetron’s hypnotic remix of ‘Downstroke’ delivers a warm yet trippy late night vibe that imbues the vocal with a more sinister edge and twists and turns along a winding acidic bassline. Deetron hails from the Swiss town of Bern and has released on labels such as Intec, Music Man and Ongaku. A highly regarded producer who has been on the techno scene for well over a decade, Deetron also dropped his highly esteemed Balance 020 mix CD last year and gave Ben Westbeech’s ‘Falling’ an intense techy synth rework on Strictly Rhythm.

‘Vibos’ is another bass driven affair injected with brightly melodic keys and a discoesque bassline, with enough drive and kick to cause a riot on the dancefloor. With its uplifting bounce and cosmic warmth, this B-side is another reason you’ll be hooked on the big sound of PBR Streetgang for the coming year.

Tom Thorpe and Bonar Bradberry - a couple of Leeds rave culture treasures -make up the boogie boat that is PBR Streetgang. Having cut their teeth as DJs at the infamous Asylum parties in Leeds, they have since become one of the most diverse and interesting production partnerships on the UK dance scene, earning the respect of luminaries such as Greg Wilson and Ralph Lawson. Now with critically acclaimed releases on labels 20:20 Vision, Wolf Music and Southern Fried records, they join the Hot Creations hall of fame to kick-start the global PBR Streetgang effect.
