The month of June marks the release of the fifth installment in La Vie En Rose´s short, but captivating series thus far. With it the imprint welcomes young Remi Mazet to share his artistic nature - offering up a delicious slice of homemade, sun-drenched pie, in the form of the stellar summer offering ´Le Kiff´.
Raised in France and relocating to London in 2008, where his childhood friend Louis Guilhem was beginning to make a name for himself as Lo*Kee resident and Kubicle regular, Remi Mazet was immediately immersed into the thriving and constantly evolving East London electronic music scene. With a longtime love of good music and an endless appetite for new sounds, he naturally began to experiment with production and now does so as a full-time passion, leading him to release on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’s Hot Waves imprint last year.
For his debut on La Vie En Rose, Mazet explores the deeper side of house music; blending smooth beats, lapping percussion and cosmic synths with an infectiously echoed Rhodes piano. A funky, off beat baseline and a sensual female vocal ensures that this is most certainly one for the summer and a track that is sure to get a daytime party grooving. With the Ibiza season just around the corner this could be a potent piece of weaponry for DJ´s looking to destroy a few dancefloors.
Fellow Frenchman Boris Horel is on remix duties after winning much praise thanks to stand out releases on Eklo and Turquoise Blue. With his remix Boris ramps up the energy levels and injects some of his trademark funk into proceedings.
Rounding off the release, Remi Mazet teams up with Mr.Matlar for ´Are You There´ - an irresistible deep house groove, made almost hypnotic by the recurrent guitar sample appearing throughout.
