Back with a monster of a release and undoubtedly one of their biggest to date, One Records are proud to present underground lady of house Anthea and ‘Distraction’. This deliciously deep and dubby number oozes sex appeal, featuring a pumped up remix from the legendary DC10 resident Dan Ghenacia and a 5am deep and dark dancefloor weapon from label boss Subb-an.
Forming a close bond with Adam Shelton and Subb-an through their Birmingham party Below, it was only a matter of time before Anthea was to release on their One Records imprint. Falling in love with ‘Distraction’, the pair soon snapped it up. Emotive synth patterns and siren stabs compliment the stripped rolling beats, as the divinely original and infectious vocal sang by the talented producer herself - ‘I can’t dance when you’re next to me’ swarms the mind and stays with you for days!
Dan Ghenacia is first to remix, delivering a solid house weapon that radiates his personal touch. With added synths and packed with an intoxicating groove, you can’t help but dance. The Frenchman’s remix has already been destroying dancefloors at the likes of WMC, DC10 and fabric and there is no doubt that this will be an anthem of the summer.
Subb-an spins his trademark sound onto the original to round off this killer package. Deep, dark and druggy, this late night version is destined to destroy the floor. An added bassline with eerie haunts of the vocal soon progress into warm melodic keys, deep and echoing for a remarkably creative twist.
Originally everyone’s best friend at Phonica Records, Anthea has moved on to achieve huge things. UK born and bred, she now spends most of her time in Berlin working with her new home label Brouqade where she heads the A&R. Making quite a name for herself over the last few years, the underground queen has been releasing on labels including Desolat, Freak N Chic and Air London. Her epic DJ sets have lead her to grace the decks at venues such as fabric London, Panorama Bar, Watergate, Space Ibiza and Harry Klein to name a small few. Setting the standard high with this stellar release, keep a close eye on what the unstoppable One Records has in store this year.
