Hugo Barritt made his Vitalik debut earlier this summer with his ethereal ‘Downtime’ cut on the We Love Vitalik compilation, a perfect prelude to this, his first full EP on the label. Deep and melodic, the dulcet tones of the ‘Merkaba EP’ permeate the consciousness. ‘Merkaba’ sets the tone of the EP with its percussive groove and richly padded dubby textures. The second original cut on offer here, ‘Lily Hole’ is deeper and dubbier with a winding melodic synth line and trippy vocals descending from space.

Pezzner is first up to bat with his remix of ‘Lilly Hole’. His remix of Marino Berardi´s ‘Best Intentions’ last year cemented Vitalik´s opinion that he is a producer of uncommon ability, his remix of ‘Lilly Hole’ exudes all the elevated and sublime nuances of that work. Taking it deeper and moodier still with a heady build of thickly layered organic percussion, eerie chimes and intensifying surges of twisted sonic shapes inject the underlying warmth with some darkness.

Ethyl is fast making a name for himself with existing releases on labels like Cecile, Tsuba and Quintessentials. Residing on secretsundaze Secret Agency alongside contemporaries such as Delano Smith Brothers Vibe and Chez Damier. His remix of ‘Lilly Hole’ captures all the signature qualities that make him stand out as a truly talented house producer, intricately sculptured sounds, simple rhythms morphed into complex progressions. This is classic house music with some serious muscle.

New Zealand born Hugo Barritt was initiated into the London house scene as co- promoter of Robert Owens’ residency ‘Journeys’, and went on to play at some of the most influential underground parties, including Retox, Players at AKA and Lo*Kee. Over the last few years Hugo has put more focus in the studio, and 2011 saw him featured on Vitalik Recordings ´We Love Space 2011´ compilation, mixed by Ryan O Gorman and jozif.
